I am in the early stages of making what will be my first game. I am using Godot. It will be a ryona focused game, a very simple fighter in the same vein as Punch-Out or Waifu Fighter (I cannot post links yet, but it's easy to find this game via google). I have a lot to learn but I am confident I can figure out the programming side of things. Not worried about that as much. My concern is how to release the game into the wild. Was hoping someone could give me some tips, clues, goals, ideas, recommendations on how to best go about this.
I have no grand dreams of monetizing this to a huge extent, I am new and this will be made for a niche group. I do not expect to make money from this really, I actually want the game to be free and plan to keep it as a free game . I do want to leave the option open for donations should someone want to help me pay for assets as I go.
My question is how should I best go about doing this? What site should I use, at what point would I need to begin considering an LLC, etc. I want to get an idea of what to expect for a legal/tax perspective before I get too far into the process.
I will be looking into all of this, but I thought a game place to begin would be to just ask here. Please let me know if this should be posted elsewhere on the site.
