11/14 - Devlog Update, Release Date & Mobile Release

I’ve started releasing the latest version of Light-Space Love for supporters, version 0.43, Episode 1, Part 3.

This version includes the mobile version of Light-Space Love, so you can now play on your Android.

A revamp to Diplomacy, which now adds support for sex positions – currently two grapples and the handjob position are implemented, with more positions and grapples on the way!

It also includes the start of the next phase of the main storyline which takes Linessa to Ukka’Kizz the homeworld of the Gro’n Ska’Li, a race of lizardmen that place a significant importance on physical combat and humiliation of their opponents.

I’ve also added the first draft of the Arcade, where you can play any game modes, mini-games or start a random encounter. I plan on adding a progression system to the Arcade in future updates which will allow game mode and mini-game enjoyers to unlock without having to play the main story – though, if you want to unlock through playing the main game, that’s also an option!

I’ll also be adding progression options to the arcade to allow the player to set Linessa’s L.O.V.E. level and skills.

Other than that, I’ve added some new dialogues, made a few bug fixes, QoL changes and added in new music and sound effects.

I plan on releasing this version to the public pretty quickly since it includes some major changes and mobile support, I’m aiming to have the public version available to everyone by the 1st of December.

I also plan on making changes to my release schedule – I’ll be switching over to smaller more frequent updates, instead of larger less frequent updates as I’ve been doing. My goal has always been 1-2 month release cycles, and this change should help.

On that note, the next update will only include the Ukka'Kizz Game Over game mode and the Martial Training game mode and I’m aiming to have it ready by the end of December. Then the following update will include the end of the Ukka’Kizz portion of the main storyline, which will end Episode 1 – with the goal of releasing at the end of January.

1/4 - v.044 Release Date & Changelog

I hope you've all had a great holidays and New Years!

I just wanted to give a quick update and check in since it's been a while since I've updated this thread, starting with the most important news:
Tomorrow, version 0.44's release cycle will begin for supporters -- with the public version planning to be available on February 2nd.

Just to give an update on my development strategy, I've decided to break up my how I release content to speed up the development cycle. Which on that note, I plan on having a "theme" for my updates going forward, so they're a lot more focused.

The "theme" on this update (v. 0.44), would've been the Tournament Defeat update; since it's focus is the playable Game Over in the tournament on Ukka'Kizz.

The theme of the next update will be Episode 1: Facing the Ka'Lik. Which will focus on wrapping up all of the story beats in the main story on Ukka'Kizz with Linessa finally getting to see and meet the Ka'Lik and being able to face her final opponent in the Gro'n Gala'Kor.

I plan to add in the new Game Mode to that update as well -- which will be the Martial Training game mode. And if you decide to take on the "Defeat" path for meeting the Ka'Lik, you'll be awarded with a "different" way of playing the Martial Training game mode.

Since this next update (0.45) is going to be bigger than the last (0.44), as it will have a new game mode and will finish up the story of Episode 1, it may take a bit longer than Phase 4 did. I'm aiming for 2 months on this one.

Once that's completed, I'll be moving onto the Drinking Competition Game Mode and then adding additional stages to the Prison Cult missions to allow Linessa to decide whether she wants to join or guide them.

That's about it for now.

4/26 - Episode 1 Retrospective & Animated Sex Positions
After releasing the ending of Episode 1, I wanted to take a look back at how the game’s been progressing and evaluate what’s worked so far and what I should change. In that process, I took on an art director to help out with some of my design decisions.

And the first change we’ve come to is adding in more animations to the game – now we’re working with TheLawfulsock, to get animations for all of the base sex positions in Diplomacy. What that means is instead of it being a still image during an encounter, the position will now be animated – I’m starting backwards on this one though – since I want to get some new art for the handjob position – and the first position that will be animated is the vaginal sex position.

Here’s some teasers of the work we’ve done so far!

The animations will be variable like the current ones – you can enter the vaginal position and the blowjob position at the same time, for example – or just vaginal, or all three!

I’ve also got some changes coming to Diplomacy to unlock these skills a little earlier (instead of having to get your L.O.V.E. level to 69, you can unlock it a lot earlier using skill points in the Lewd tree).

5/10 - Episode 1 Retrospective (Pt. 2) - Episode Mode & Arcade

From the feedback I’ve received, I saw a lot of comments that were complaining about the grind – then on the other hand, there were a lot of comments that loved the leveling system, so while I was trying to wrap my head around a good solution for both of these responses, I did ultimately decide on lowering the level cap on some skills, and I also came up with what I think is another good middle ground which involved improving the Arcade.

The first improvement is making a TL;DR version of the game available in the Arcade – essentially, you can play “fast” version of the game in the Arcade by choosing story mode, think Light-Space Love Abridged.

For this Arcade story mode, I’ve broken up the major story points in the game into “Episodes”, each episode will consist of some dialogue followed by an encounter, game mode or game over – after which you’ll advance to the next episode.

The story mode in the Arcade will be a little different from the story in the main game since the episodes are intended to be short and the story is a lot more linear so you can get to the “action” quicker. It’s also going to be written in such a way that you’ll play through each game over and game mode at least once.

The flavor I’m going for this is essentially a retro campy Sci-Fi miniseries broken up into 5 seasons (with a few optional seasons or episodes) until you reach the finale, in which you could essentially “binge” through the entire abridged story in one or two sessions – while letting you revisit your favorite episodes as you like.

The second improvement to the arcade that I’m currently working on is allowing you to customize your Arcade version of Linessa so you can play through these episodes or your preferred event at a specific L.O.V.E. level or Command Rank. Which I’ll have more details on that in a future devlog.

5/17- More Diplomacy Sex Animations
This is a smaller update, more of a teaser, really, for some additional animations. I’m currently working on a way to add some “variations” to the animations as well during Diplomacy. At least for when Linessa is engaged with one partner.

I’m looking at either randomizing the position during the encounter, or basing it on Linessa’s or her partner’s Pleasure in some way – with higher Pleasure picking from a more “intense” variation – or increasing the speed of said animation.

We’ll see how this is implemented, though. Currently there’s about three variations on the vaginal sex skill animation and two for Anal.

5/31 - Diplomacy & Arcade Updates

I’m still plugging away at making some QoL changes before moving onto new content for the optional Futa Episode, recently I addressed one thing that really bothered me, which was how much space the UI took up during Diplomacy that it never gave the art much room to breathe.

So, I took a minimal approach to the UI, elements are smaller and your main actions are transparent, this way, you won’t have to “look around” the UI to see the “action”.

And based on some additional feedback, I lowered the requirements to unlock sex skills in Diplomacy. Both the An*l and Vag*nal skills can be unlocked at L.O.V.E. levels 20 and 25 at the cost of a Skill Point, you can also now see at what level you can unlock certain “Milestone” skills in the updated skills menu -- you'll also see which skills you've already learned highlighted in green and which skills you cannot learn grayed out.

I’ve also made Linessa’s stats much more transparent, in the attribute assignment window, you can see, based on your choices, how your combat stats will be affected. Rapport affects Evasion and DMG, Logic affects CRIT, DMG and Energy, while Tenacity affects her total Willpower.

Other than that, I’m giving you more customization options in the Arcade mode by allowing stat editing, that way you can customize Linessa for how you want her to play in arcade scenarios -- or play around and experiment with different builds. If you choose not to interact with this, she’ll just level up regularly during arcade encounters -- though, you'll still need to assign Skills and Attributes in this screen.

That's about it for now -- right now I'm working on updating the UI for dialogue and figuring out how to improve my code for implementing the upcoming s*x animations. Right now the integration is pretty rough, but it works.

Hi, I really liked the game, after the game KP found out about your game. I have a question. Will there be a mini-game added in bars, etc. Like in KP? And another question, the second time I fight with slime in the arena and the game freezes, is this the norm?)

And yeah, there are plans for a Drinking Competition mini-game, it's planned for the update after this one. I wouldn't say it's similar though, since it's more about drinking than bartending like in KP.

And another question, the second time I fight with slime in the arena and the game freezes, is this the norm?)
There's a known bug right now, assuming you're at either max L.O.V.E. or max Command Rank where if you "level" up at the cap, the game gets stuck in an infinite loop. It will be fixed in the next update.

Thanks for the quick reply) It would be great if the mini-games challenged the player, giving them the opportunity to come out victorious..And defeat is hot >:)

Mini-games with a variety of mechanics, this is what distinguishes h games from VN)

..If anything, English is not my native language, I apologize for possible mistakes

6/7 - Amora Interrogation Revamp & Mini-Game

I decided to give myself a game dev challenge this time around; just to see how quickly I can put together a new game mode using some existing art/animations that were in my backlog.

I had gotten Amora's introduction scene animated some time ago and thought to myself, I could turn this into a mini-game. And so, I did!

It took me about three days to get it into its final stages (not including the amount of time it took our animator and artist to put it together). But, I wanted to see what I was capable of, given that I've been improving my game dev skills during the course of this project.

Here's a few more gifs of the scene itself. The quality ain't great since I used my built-in screen recording software, but you should get the jist of it.

I pretty much went for a "timed mini-game" where you have to balance keeping the interrogatee(?)'s pleasure low while keeping your "extraction" meter high.

You'll be prompted to change positions and speeds during the course of the game at timed intervals -- I'm considering adding a beat-bar to this (not synced with the music, but more with the animation) to gain some extra points and punish you for missing the "rhythm".

Most of the work on this is done, and I'm pretty happy with myself that I was able to turn this around a lot quicker than my usual stuff. I figure it may be because I'm not fighting against a lot of this project's legacy code and this is an independent system. That, or writing, bug fixing and implementation takes up a lot more time than I give it credit for.

Either way, I'm hoping to give myself more challenges like these in the future!

Note: There are plans for sex toy integrations with these animated scenes, (mainly for stroker toys like the Handy) but I haven't gotten to that implementation piece just yet to speak at length about it.

6/26 - Sex Animations & Upcoming Release

I'm still plugging away at some of the bug fixes and wrapping things up for this interim update.

Right now I'm putting finishing touches on the animated sex positions in Diplomacy. It's got a few kinks that I need to work out (like cut-ins for the sex animation playing when they shouldn't) and some jankiness with keeping track of interacting with different gendered enemies. As of right now, we'll only be supporting the vaginal and anal sex positions (since those are the only two positions animated), with blowjobs then handjobs being up next.

I added a few samples of the animations in-game here, but had to compress the gifs like hell to get them to upload.

For the sex animations, we've got a few variations on the patterns and speed, as the encounter progresses so will both the patterns and the speed of the sex animation change. The higher the player's or the enemy's pleasure gets, the faster the animation gets and it will be reactive if your pleasure gets lower. And between turns, the pattern of the sex animation will also change.

As I mentioned in a previous post, there are intentions of supporting sex toys, the same will happen with the toys once that integration is completed, in that, the speed and pattern playing on your device will change too! Which I'm super excited about!

But, as it stands now, there's tons of variations and I won't be able to hit my preferred release date by the end of this month if I include all of the different pattern scripts in this update since I do handcraft each script for each pattern and speed variation, which the vaginal sex position would need over 20 variations alone!

Either way, I'm hoping for a smooth release cycle soon for v0.46 and thanks for checking out my ramblings.

7/7 - Drinking Competition Game Mode

Work has started on the Drinking Competition game mode, which had won the Discord poll for our next mini-game. I'm mostly finishing up putting together the UI, though this may not be the final version of it. This is only the general idea I have for it.

A score meter for both Linessa and Amora to track their favor with the crowd and an Endurance meter to keep track of how fatigued either of them are from drinking with a drink counter to keep track of how many drinks they've downed.

I haven't completely settled on what the gameplay will be. Originally I was going to have it be a hard value of the amount of drinks either of them have taken and the highest amount wins, but instead I want to incorporate some "alternate" win conditions that are independent of drinking, such as taking different lewd acts to appease the crowd -- so the meters on either side of them will track their crowd score and once that reaches the max, that competitor will win.

So, I got the win condition set, but the gameplay is still a WIP, I have a few ideas I'm playtesting right now, the main idea I'm aiming for is something a little more "live". Most of the game modes I've created have taken a "slower" turn-based approach, aside from the recent interrogation minigame and the Trial of Piety, where the intention is that you can take your time to "enjoy" the artwork.

This time, the gameplay will be much more active, though there will be breaks in between rounds that each you, Amora and Linessa can rest. Though, I do want to include some kind of "distraction" mechanic that you or the crowd could use while the opponent is drinking, but that may not make it for the game mode if I feel its too cumbersome to include.

Either way, in the next devlog I should have a sample of which gameplay style I've settled on!

I've been solely working on the Drinking Competition Mini-game, a lot of the work was just starting over and iterating on my initial ideas. I think I settled on two of the ideas I've had.

I've got the game modes pretty much ready, it's a combination of a BeatBar(?) timing mini-game and a uhhh, sliding(?) and balancing mini-game. You'll see once it's ready.
I'm also probably going to shrink the UI. I feel like it's taking up a lot of space here.

I also felt it was missing some flair. So, I created some new "action" cut-ins, which will play before something happens. Such as starting a handjob, a "grabbing cock" cut-in will play before it. You can see an example of the starting blowjob cut-in below.

So, I added in a system to include these in future game modes (separate from the current cut-in system) and I'll be going back to add these to previous game modes and to Diplomacy. I'll be working with our animator, Lawfulsock, to get some more of these that are animated. Such as, a quick cut-in of an x-ray of a penis slamming into Linessa before Linessa begins vaginal or anal sex with a partner.

For now, I'd like to start testing for this game mode sometime next week and start releasing around the middle of this month, perhaps on the 15th.

Then I'll immediately begin work on the Piloting Simulation revamp, which I'm really excited for!
Our animator has a lot cooking for that game mode and I think you're really going to like it!

One thing that I should mention before the game gets further than 50% completion, don't neglect the possible Dom path, if there is one planned. KP(yup, another comparison with that one) played with that, but never got really deep into it, so it ended up with being all-sub if you wanted to get through to NSFW scenes.

Something along famous Rorschach quote: "It's not me who's getting fucked by locked with you, it's you who's getting fucked by locked with me."

Also, as far as ideas go, I'd love to see us getting possible LIs/romances with some kind of relationship points minigame which unlocks different actions/poses depending on the path you've taken and an option to invite them to Captain's Quarters and get some action(seen that planned in Roadmap), depending on perks player has earned with that character(take that little green girl mini-boss as an example - she could join the crew onboard and get her scenes and sexual encounters depending on the path player takes - ignoring her, being rough, being gentle, or balanced romantic path). In that case, you'd bring NSFW stuff for peeps who want to play Paragon Commander Shepard type of role - getting things done without making your hands sticky dirty in process.

Also, as far as animations go: why not base them off the playstyle that player has: like, if the player has Tenacity as his biggest trait, then Animation 1has 80% chance of being played, Anim2 - 15%, Anim3 - 5%. Or simply if it's Tenacity - Anim1, L.O.V.E - Anim2 etc.
Or make it based off Sub/Dom/Tweener routes or something.

There is a chunk of players, who don't want to get into action with goblins, ogres and others while seeking for one specific LI encounter/don't want to turn MC into cumdump/whore(yup, that's me), yet are looking forward for playing the game.

With all that being said: the only reason I'm not a supporter yet, is that I don't have funds for it(thanks, war).
This project seems to look like something that could get really big in a year or two.

As far as a Dom stuff goes, right now I'm bouncing between two ideas. One is having Linessa, the MC, be defined as a switch (with a preference towards being more dominant, given that she's Captain and has an innate dommy nature) versus letting that be defined during the course of gameplay.

The reason for this is Linessa does have a defined character which can be influenced to be more lewd vs. more serious -- giving into her "Slut" brain or listening to her "Captain" brain.

Either way, I do plan on adding scenarios in which she can show her dominance, either through dialogue, during Diplomacy and in mini-games. While her more submissive side would come out in the game over scenes as she'd be at the mercy of her opponents in those scenarios.

For the goblins at the start of the game, I do plan on doing a redesign on the Kardassimins (their females will probably remain goblin-like) while their males will look more alien -- I'll be working with our art director on a redesign for that sometime around the end of episode 2. Other than that, we've got more aliens cooking, which I'm excited to start introducing to the game soon -- there are a few spoilers of them on the SubscribeStar.

And hmm, I'll have to think more about the pubic hair thing -- if anything customization would have to be a stretch goal with the amount of art we've got already. I will speak with the AD about designing more characters that do have pubic hair though. :unsure:

What I mean with goblins/other races is that some lads may be seeking to finding their Garrus on the road instead of banging every other asari whenever the opportunity rises)
But maybe the overall setting of the game doesn't fit it, I dunno)
